In Palworld, you’re spoiled for choice with more than 150 different monsters you can add to both your base and your team. After nearly two years, it’s no surprise that players have found the best Pals for specific jobs. But plenty of creatures that are secretly excellent still get overlooked. Forget Anubis and focus instead on Pals most people don’t use—you might discover some amazing abilities. Let’s take a closer look at eight of these underrated Pals.

Palworld guide to underrated Pals for team, combat, and base

Menasting in Palworld: Strong defender and worker Pal

Location: Northern Rocky Hills, Southern Sandbank, Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2

Menasting often gets overshadowed by others in its category, but it brings a lot to the table. This mechanical scorpion isn’t easy to find and catch, yet once it’s on your team it becomes one of the best defenders in battle. It also boosts your defense and makes Electric Pals drop more items. If you prefer to keep it at your base, it’s also great for chopping trees and mining.

Astegon in Palworld: Unrivaled miner and flying mount

Location: Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3

Astegon is underrated for its looks alone—its black-and-pink color scheme really stands out. Its kit is just as impressive. Astegon is a flying mount that also lets you gather more ore as you go. With Mining level 4, it’s nearly unmatched and can work at night. Its combat stats are very strong, and its Dark/Dragon typing is excellent.

Sootseer in Palworld: Top attacker with powerful Fire skills

Location: Dancing Sakura Shrine

Sootseer glows with violet flames and is one of the most striking Pals design‑wise. It’s often overlooked, but its attack stats can hang with the best in the game. It also naturally learns powerful Fire moves. As a worker Pal, it’s versatile too, with five different work skills at various levels: Kindling, Gathering, Handiwork, Mining, and Farming. Its partner skill can also earn you more bones when you need them.

Nitemary in Palworld: Farm more souls and solid all-around stats

Location: Southern part of Feybreak Island

Nitemary isn’t just one of the most beautiful Pals—it shines thanks to its partner skill, which grants more Pal Souls you can spend at the Statue of Power to enhance your Pals. If you want stronger companions, Nitemary is a great help for soul farming. It also holds its own in battle with balanced, relatively strong stats. At your base, Nitemary can handle Transporting and Handiwork.

Prunelia in Palworld: Harvest boost and top-tier farm Pal

Location: Northern part of Feybreak Island

When it comes to growing crops, Prunelia is likely your best pick. It not only offers strong work skills like Planting, Gathering, and Medicine Production, but its partner skill also boosts your harvest yield. Even better, this effect stacks—the more Prunelia you have, the more you can harvest. If you love running fields, this Pal is practically mandatory.

Killamari in Palworld: Underrated worker and better glider

Location: Early‑game dungeons (not in the overworld)

Killamari looks unassuming due to its small size and is easy to ignore. But especially for beginners, this purple tentacled Pal is one of the best workers for basic tasks (Gathering, Transporting, and Watering). It’s also nocturnal, which is always handy. It’s not very useful in combat, but you should still bring it while exploring. Thanks to its partner skill, your glider is improved and can carry you longer. Unlock the appropriate gloves at Technology level 9.

Reindrix in Palworld: Cold‑resistant mount for desert travel

Location: Frostbound Mountain, southern region of the Astral Mountains

You can ride Reindrix with a saddle from level 29, which is especially useful for exploration in hot regions. It keeps you cool so you can gallop through the heat without trouble. You can also use its chill effect at your base to cool the surroundings. In combat, Reindrix is useful thanks to its Ice Crown Tacklecharge enemies and freeze them so you don’t have to worry about counterattacks. It’s especially valuable in the mid‑game when you’re expanding.

Beegarde in Palworld: Honey production, swarm synergy, and all‑round worker

Location: Verdant Brook

Beegarde isn’t exactly underrated because you need it to produce honey for cake (Palworld Breeding Guide 2026: Breeding Farm, Incubator, and Cake) . But many forget it has even more uses that make it a true all‑rounder in Palworld. Besides honey, its partner skill boosts Elizabee’s statsthe more Beegarde you have on the team, the better. A full team of Beegarde and Elizabee can be dangerous. As a regular worker at your base, Beegarde can cover many tasks, even if only at level 1.

Conclusion: Make smart use of Palworld’s underrated Pals

You don’t always have to focus on the Pals everyone else is using. There’s a huge variety of unique creatures, and some of them are seriously underrated. Ultimately, it depends on what you want to achieve and which Pals support your goals. Of course, you’ll also need to find and catch the right ones—and maybe even breed them. So look closely and give some lesser‑loved Pals a chance.
